GENERAL: Almost Lost my Mind

I was looking for the objective markers that I had made for my Lost and the Damned Army when I started digging through my models.. and found legions of unpainted models and half done armies... I almost lost my mind there just before I was able to throw them all back in their boxes...

Man I need to get rid of some extra stuff and start focusing on just one army at a time..  And I hadn't even begun to look at the Fantasy stuff that I still have.

Must focus.

GLADIATOR 2010 - REPORTS

Well week 3 is finally over and surprisingly I have won all three games so far against the heavy hitters in alabang with a combination of good luck on my part and bad luck from my opponents.

WEEK 1 - Sunny (Nids)

• Battled out Sunny and his Beautiful Psychic Scream Tyranid Army. That was a long game of 3 hours as he had three units of Gaunts that had Without Number constantly coming back. Highlights of that game include
• Killed off two Scream Zoanthropes with a turn 1 charge. Killed off the Hive Tyrant with shoota fire
• Warboss fails his leadership check due to shooting.. never comes back again..
• Burna Boyz do there thing all over again and toast gaunts and stealers and too the last wound of a Carnifex.. sadly the last turn I got too overconfident, charged the remaining Zoanthrope.. I lose combat and off they went
• Mega Armor Nobz needed to kill the Carnifex with a couple of 2+ to wounds.. I roll nothing but ones.. Nobz run away never to come back..

WEEK 2 Freddie (Guard)

• I was just trying to eck out a draw on this one. Being shot at by guard is no fun thing.. Interestingly I managed to NOT fail a single leadership check by turn 2 even as hugged the table edges to at least ensure that some of his ordnance would go off board. Hence my surprise when I got the win by sticking to the mission objectives
• Some Highlights include:
• Warboss dies due to a horde of powerweapon pin pricks.. 9 str3 powe weapon attacks.. and he got the needed 3 sixes to kill of the warboss.. doh.. Fortunately 54 regular ork attacks makes short work of the blob
• A charge at a devil dog by shoota boys makes it immbolized, stunned and weapon destroyed.. Oh good.
• Loota Boy survives to fight the next match.

WEEK 3 Jhei (Tau) 

• Managed to get the first turn for this one.. Well at least that got me one less turn of shooting before I got stuck in with the boyz. Kroot are nasty in big numbers.. good thing I got the chance to whittle them down before they got stuck in with the ladz. Jhei had to tap out by turn 4 but had one devilfish with troops and 3 crisis suits left.
• Highlights include
• Getting the Warboss and 19 choppa orks at the Tau Commander by turn 2. He only had two rail gun shots at the battlewagon. Managed to make my cover save from the KFF. There goes that. It then managed to survive a hail of shots as they attempted and eventually killed a HammerHead
• Rokkit Boy kills a HammerHead. Had to resist mightily the urge to whoop and scream for joy for that.
• Mass shoota fire will wipe out Crisis Suits and Kroot.
• Deep Striking Crisis Suits suffer mishaps.. One gets lost.. the other delays the drop.. sadly that other suit never comes back.

CONCLUSION: 

Well the army is still alive. I think most of the armies are setup as anti-Mech. Though the Imperial Guard have a lot of heavy flamers.. I never headed towards him for it.

My winning streak will be put to the test though. Am going to fight a Dakka Fex list. I need to get in close and stuck in or at least keep away from the 12 inch kill zone before I get to do so.. Will see..

As for painting.. dang it I got  4 weeks before this thing all ends.. and all I have done is buy a spray can..
Here we go...

THE NEW MODEL FUND: 2010

Was able to sell off a 40k Chaos Lord and the high elf models I had last week. Was also able to save some cash in the good ol piggy bank. That should increase the model fund significantly. Looks Like I'm off to a good start for my target. And that Target is:

TARGET - Have earned 20k for the MODEL FUND by the end of the year.

So The GLADIATOR Begins

The Rolling Hills Gaming Club over here in Manila is starting strong by doing the semi-annual GLADIATOR CUP. A no holds bared screw-the-objectives-wipe-out-your-opponent-plus-funky-rules-per-week kind of thing.

What a perfect opportunity then for me to get my ass out of the couch and start painting away :)


I will be using the following list for the GLAD cup. It's going to be a fixed list thing for 6 weeks.. oops.. I thought we were going to be able to change lists per week but guess not.. It's heavy on ork footsloggas but not much else. Ho Hum here we go then :)

This looks more of a fantasy army I think :P. heh will see how this fairs in the battefield. Looks like I will be playing the southern boys for this league and fortunately looks like there built to fight mech rather than a horde list. Will see how this all works out then :D

GENERAL: 2009 Come and Gone.. On to 2010

Nothing survives contact with the enemy

- Wow where did the year go? I had a good plan all setup for January.. and then life/work and other hobbies got in the way (Boardgames) Nothing that I had planned for the year 2009 got to being completed at all in terms of gaming. I attribute it to more of not being able to play enough games to motivate me to assemble and paint anything at all. Speaking of paint, there is more resistance to me painting because I believe my paints have indeed all dried up and I need to start from scratch and that daunts me to paint.

Review: Frequency Posts.: F
- From a good 30 posts last 2008 to only 6 for the entire year.. wow that is bad.
Review: Number of Games in: D-
- I only got in a total of 8 games for the entire year and that definetly affects me in getting a chance to assemble and paint all of the figs that I do have. I wasnt even able to join the 40k GT.. All of the games had been with orks.. Perhaps I can get the momentum going with that part.

I was able to get one Horde game with SJ at Mcdonalds.. Just in time before MkII showed up.. Hah heres to that.

Resolutions:
- Nothing I had tried to resolve to do I was able to actually do for the entire year of 2009. Nuff Said.

To the Year 2010:
- So what about 2010? Do I just stop making resolutions and forget all about it? Im trying to analyze why I wasn't able to finish anything at all or do anything. I believe its because of inertia of actually trying to pick up a brush again and just paint anything.. For that I need new paints..
Will just buy the paints as soon as I realize I need one.. Yes its counter productive.. but at least I would be able to afford buying the paints again.

- The good thing about the first part of 2010 is the rise of the Gladiator Cup again to be headed by Romy. Im hoping this will give me the desire to pick up the brush and paint..

I at least haven't been completely idle. I was able to at the least assemble and convert a couple of lootas.. as well as clean more AOBR orks.

Also was able to get some Bunker gaming with Owen and his Sisters during the December 30 summoning.... and with Jeff Yu back to gaming I got a place to get some warhammer gaming that is near my place. Perfect :)

MODELLING: Assembling yet more Orks

What a rainy lazy day last Saturday. Got the chance to at least slowly assemble a few ork figs while I used some Fantasy Orks to assemble the 4 lootas. Took a while of sanding and cleaning to get the stuff to fit.


Took me 2 hours just to fit the 4 Lootas ... man talk about slow. Then the burna Mek


It took me just an hour to assemble the 10 regular ork boys with shootas though. I lined them up and it looks like the fantasy boys are a bit bigger than the new ork boys. have to check with the rest of the boys..


I just also realized that kopters can have the assault gets hot ap2 Kannons.. hmm cheaper than rokkits.. Might as well give that a try next time :)

BUNKER GAMING yet Again

Got the chance to get two games in at the bunker during the August 21 - meet. Free catering by Ninong Lito himself. Was able to get a ride with Owen and Jeff from Cubao to there.

First game was against Owen with his sisters and inducted Guard.
-- First turn was bad as he was able to knock out my Looted vehicle immediately and an ork mob got eradicated on the 2nd turn. Fortunately the Mega Nobz and Warboss was able to get stuck in and butcher the rest of the people there.

Second game was against Sunny and his Tyranids
-- Shooting and assault kept me wiping out Gaunts but because of Without Number they just keep coming back. Managed to kill off the Zoanthropes and Tyranid Warriors to break up synapse but the unit of the game was the Burna Boyz..

Need to get more games in again :)

MODELLING: Cleaning yet more Orks

Well after my game with Obi and a week passing I finally just went ahead and cleaned off the mold lines from a slew of models from the AOBR box set as well as for the Lootas and 10man Ork boy squad.

I am of course covered in plastic residue and I once again stabbed myself with the Xacto knife.

Still it was all worth it -- for at least its a start

BATTLE REPORT: Space Orks Vs. Dark Angels - June 9, 2009

Some pics taken way back June when I got to be able to get back to the bunker for some Tuesday Night Gaming.. I meant to write a report.. Too bad I had forgotten all about this one.

Hordes Gaming in McDonalds

A change of pace for a bit. I finally got SJ to have lunch. It was probably
because I told him he should show me a quick game of Privateer Press's
Hordes :P


Well not caring about the stares coming from the other tables we
set off for quick game with my Starter box of Everblight versus his
Starter box of Trolls.

I have to say he was right with his Analysis.. Everblight packs a mean punch but
has a glass jaw.. and Trolls are more like Dwarves .. tough as nails :P


I managed to kill his Impaler by Carni and a lot of Shredders only to have the Carni
dead by Thrashers.. taking down a shredder or two as well.

Lesson learned was that I forgot to save a fury point as Mandrake Ironhide through
a very large Axe at Lylth taking her out of the game.

On to the next game then :)
